Expert currently serves as the Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department, and has previously held positions with major transportation companies. His research specializations include sensing and detection on highways, driver behavior analysis, automotive engine control, and machine vision for traffic applications. Research clients include the California Department of Transportation, California Office of Traffic Safety, and the University of California (Berkeley and Irvine). He has published over 125 technical journal and conference papers, and serves on the editorial review boards of four journals.
